Zone Alarm Personal Firewall Application

If you have broadband (Cable or DSL) and don't have a router, you need a software Firewall. And, Windows XP's built-in Firewall isn't enough! I prefer Zone Alarm.

Even if you have a broadband router installed, Zone Alarm does something to warrant its use, anyway. While it helps to block inbound attacks on your system, it also monitors outbound activity. When another application tries to access your network or the Internet, it will pop up a dialog box asking if it is OK. This is a good indicator of possible virus infection.

Features:

  • Automatic blocking of inbound traffic
  • Instantly cut off Internet activity, if suspicious activity is noted
  • Ability to customize URLs and IP addresses to allow or reject access
  • Editable list of applications and their allow/reject settings
